NutraCos Omega 3 issue – ‘Fatty acids and neurodevelopmental disorders’

There is high degree of overlap between the range of neurodevelopmental disorders that includes attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism. Generally considered to be neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood, they all persist into adulthood affect as many as 10% of the population.   The association between dietary changes and the increasing incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders has led to a plethora of interest into the role of specific fatty acids, not only because of their link to changes in normal neurodevelopment, but also as a possible adjunctive therapy.
